Here's the whole story.
Spoiler: it started with a bad pun we overheard at a trade show.
The lightbulb moment
A while back we were walking a specialty print show, the kind of place where people show off big, expensive machines. One booth was snapping photos of folks walking by and printing them onto these fancy super expensive tumblers on the spot.
We were standing there watching the machine work when the rep, holding up someone's freshly printed cup, kind of shrugged and said: "I guess it's a mug on a mug."
And something just clicked.
That night, we couldn't sleep. We kept thinking about all the ridiculous, wonderful things you could put on a cup: your buddy's face on a cowboy, your dog as royalty, the whole group chat as a police lineup. The name was perfect. The only problem? The domain was not available. So we got mugonamug.co instead and started. We found the mugs, built the ideal formula, found the machines and set up and tested the process. But it still felt like we needed the real domain.
So we did what any slightly obsessed person does. We kept checking. Every few weeks, for a while. And then one day, somehow, it was available. We bought it on the spot. And here we are.

Who we actually are
We're a small, family-owned printing and customization shop. Regular people, who genuinely make things for a living. This isn't a side hustle running orders through someone else's factory. The machines are ours, the shop is ours, and every mug is printed and packed by us.
That's the part most people don't realize. A lot of custom stores online never actually touch your order. They pass it along to a separate print company that makes it and ships it. Those companies do good work and provide a real service. But because we don't rely on anyone else, we can do it faster and price it better. We make it here, we see every single one, and it goes out the door quick.
